A Direct Support System to the Whitewood Volunteer Fire Department
Have you ever wondered just what the WVFD Auxiliary does as an organization? First and foremost, we are the behind the scene support to the Fire Department. When the pager goes off, the Department never knows how long they will be out. As support, we monitor the call and provide cold and/or hot drinks as they become needed; should the call be an extended call, we have a rehab trailer that can be dispatched out to help keep the firefighters hydrated, warm or cool. We also line up meals either on scene or to be waiting at the hall when they are able to return. The ice chest is full at the Fire Hall because Auxiliary members ensure that ice is bagged on an almost daily basis. Though in the big scheme, these are quite small, but to the tired, hot, hungry firefighter, these little things make their volunteer hours easier. We are all community volunteers.
Several members of the WVFD Auxiliary are Red Cross Disaster Relief Certified. Now, that’s a mouth full to say! Simply cut to the chase, we are the hospitality arm of the Fire Department. Once a month we meet as a group to clean the Fire Hall. The Hall is used by several organizations as a meeting place, so it is important it be kept in a tidy manner.

 Also, the first Wednesday of every month we provide sides and dessert during the Departments regular meetings. Fire fighters are a hungry group; they provide and cook the (usually) brats and burgers, we supply the rest.

Whitewood VFD Auxiliary is always looking for enthusiastic, motivated people to join our team! If you are over 18, live in the Fire District, and either have a spouse/significant other on the FD or a sponsor from the FD or Auxiliary, you are eligible! Any Auxiliary member can answer any questions you might have. We also welcome you to attend our regular scheduled meetings (2nd Wednesday of every month).
